Description

This module will introduce students to social science approaches to health and illness. It will examine the inter-relationship between health, illness, disease and society through lectures, group work and seminars. The topics covered in the module include: introducing concepts of health illness from sociological and psychological perspectives, health and illness across the life cycle, changing patterns of health and illness and debates about the role of medicine and medical professionals in contemporary societies.
